Kinesisk-amerikanska prisbelönta Jean Kwok borde alla New York-intresserade läsa!

Jean Kwok är prisbelönta författaren bakom internationella bästsäljarna Nästan hemma och Mambo i Chinatown. Hennes texter har publicerats i 17 länder och även använts i skolundervisning. Hon har fått flera utmärkelser, bland andra American Library Association Alex Award och Chinese American Librarians Association Best Book Award samt blivit publicerad i flertalet stora tidningar och magasin såsom The New York Times, USA Today och The Oprah Magazine.  


Jean emigrerade från Hong Kong till Brooklyn när hon var fem och arbetade i en klädesfabrik i Chinatown under en stor del av sin uppväxt där hennes hem var en kackerlacksinvaderad lägenhet utan värme. Under en del av sin utbildningstid på Harvard och Columbia arbetade hon i tre år som professionell ballroomdansare. Jean bor i Nederländerna med sin man, två söner och tre katter, och jobbar just nu på nästa roman. En nederländsk TV-dokumentär gjordes nyligen om henne och hennes verk.
